Copyright and Exam Integrity Policy
Rules for original educational content, licensed material, trademarks, copyright reports, and confidential examination questions.
1. Ownership and permitted material
Medu respects copyright, trademark, confidentiality, privacy, and database rights. Content may be used on Medu only when it is original, properly licensed, in the public domain, or used within a lawful exception such as limited quotation, criticism, or teaching where that exception actually applies.
Buying or accessing content does not give a user permission to copy, redistribute, resell, scrape, or create a competing compilation. Contributors keep ownership of their original work subject to the licence in the Terms of Service.
2. Duties of instructors and contributors
A contributor must keep a reasonable record of authorship, source, licence, permission, and attribution for questions, explanations, notes, slides, images, audio, and video. A source citation does not by itself create permission to reproduce an entire protected work.
Do not upload publisher PDFs, paid lecture recordings, proprietary question banks, institution-only slides, patient media, or another person's notes without the rights and permissions required. AI generation does not guarantee originality or remove the need to check sources and rights.
3. No recalled or confidential examination content
Do not request, submit, buy, sell, reconstruct, memorize for distribution, or provide access to live examination questions or answers that an exam body treats as confidential. This includes screenshots, "recalls," answer dumps, near-verbatim reconstructions, and coordinated solicitation from recent candidates.
Medu question banks must be independently authored or properly licensed and based on public syllabi, competencies, and legitimate educational sources. Similarity in topic or testing style does not authorize copying. Suspected confidential content may be removed immediately and reported to the relevant organization where appropriate.
The USMLE program warns that third-party review courses are not affiliated with it and that actual exam questions and answers must not be used or distributed. See the official USMLE notice.
4. Trademarks and non-affiliation
USMLE, NBME, FSMB, Intealth, PLAB, MRCP, IFOM, university names, hospital names, logos, and other marks belong to their respective owners. Medu may use a name descriptively to identify the exam or audience for independent preparation material.
Unless Medu clearly documents an authorized relationship, that descriptive use does not mean affiliation, approval, certification, sponsorship, or endorsement. Medu is not a government, regulator, university, healthcare provider, examination authority, or accreditation body.
5. How to report infringement
Email support@medu.courses with the subject "Copyright or exam integrity report" and provide:
- your name and reliable contact information;
- identification of the protected or confidential material;
- the exact Medu URL, product, post, question, or account involved;
- why the use is unauthorized or violates exam confidentiality;
- evidence that you own, represent, or are authorized to report the relevant right, where applicable;
- a good-faith statement that the information is accurate; and
- your physical or electronic signature where required for a formal notice.
Do not include confidential exam text beyond the minimum needed to identify it. A knowingly false report may cause harm and legal liability.
6. Medu's response
Medu may ask for clarification, preserve evidence, restrict access, remove or disable content, notify the uploader, cancel a listing, withhold unresolved creator payment where separate creator terms allow it, or restore material after review. Urgent patient-privacy, exam-security, or clear infringement concerns may be actioned before the review completes.
Medu may forward the notice and contact information to the uploader or relevant provider where necessary to handle the claim, subject to privacy and safety considerations.
7. Response by the uploader
An affected uploader may respond with identification of the removed material, the basis for permission or lawful use, supporting documents, reliable contact information, and a good-faith accuracy statement. Medu may keep material unavailable while the parties resolve a genuine legal dispute or while an exam body reviews confidential content.
This process is designed for international reports and is not labelled as a statutory notice procedure for any particular country. A person may still use any formal notice or court process available under applicable law.
8. Repeat or serious violations
Medu may restrict or terminate contributors and users who repeatedly infringe rights or commit a serious exam-security, patient-privacy, or fraudulent-content violation. Medu may consider retractions, valid permissions, good-faith mistakes, and successful appeals.
